Renovations are Complete. Come and See!

Renovations are Complete. Come and See!

When attending the Alberta Gift Fair in Edmonton we attended a seminar by Natalie Tan with the topic of what to put where and why. Natalie focused on effective planning for today’s customer. She mentioned that IKEA was her go to business to get shelving to create this new effective look. At the end of the seminar Natalie offered a Free 20 minute consultation to anyone who wanted help. Geraldine left her business card hoping that we would be chosen. After lunch the Spa name was announced over the speaker system and we made our way to the show room. Geraldine quickly opened her phone and showed pictures of the spa and the wall she was wishing to change. Before they knew it Natalie had a plan on paper with ideas of color, position of the shelves using the triangle focal point and to add plenty of lighting. Shopping began as soon as we left the Gift Show to set the plan in motion.

Geraldine decided on shelving from Home Hardware, drawers from Home Depot and additional shelves from IKEA. Shopping continued in their local Guy’s Furniture to find the right side table and lamp to compliment the waiting area. A peaceful sanctuary to serve tea in beautiful new tea service sets.

Synthetic Polymers    have thickening and emulsifying properties and are used in cosmetics and personal care products.  They are made in the body naturally but are now made by scientists.  Teflon, polyester, epoxy and polyethylene are synthetic and made from petroleum oil.  Plastic is derived from it. Carbomer and sodium polyacrylate are most common.  They may not be toxic but if they are contaminated by processing they could be toxic.

Toluene  is found in nail polish and hair dyes and is toxic.  It can cause headaches, dizziness and cracked skin if there is direct exposure.  Toluene can cause respiratory complications and reproductive damage if exposed to long periods.  Hair dressers are asked to wear masks when using these products to lower their risk.

Triclosan  is antifungal and antibacterial which slows bacteria growth .  It is found in shaving cream toothpaste, deodorants, color cosmetics, liquid soap, and whitening products.  There was no evidence found by the Food and Drug Administration that soap with triclosan was better and more effective than plain soap and water.  There has been allergic reactions, disruption to the immune system and hormone disruptor have been reported.

Testimonial By Robin

Testimonial by Robin

I have been coming to Sunrise Wellness Spa since 2011.  I had my first facial in 2012.  I absolutely love the Eminence products, they are the greatest most effective skin care product.  I just celebrated my 40th birthday, my husband and I stopped at a gas station… I was asked to produce my ID!!!  Thank you Eminence and Sunrise Wellness Spa for my youthful look.

Robin came to Sunrise Wellness Spa to Basque in the royal treatment of a full body wrap to detoxify and rejuvenate. The dry brushing was invigorating and sluffed off the dead skin cells preparing my body for the Moor Mud which aids in the relief of many disorders. I experienced less muscular aches and pains, silky smooth skin and my joints felt young and youthful. I floated out of the treatment room. This is a feeling I have never felt before. I will be doing this again so I can experience all of the wraps the spa offers. I hugged every staff member for their great treatment and attention to detail.

“You are the greatest”

Boldijarre Writes Back…

Eminence is great for our teens and is very effective. We have Clear and Calm skin lines to address specific skin types plus we carry Eight Greens which helps with hormonal issues.
Our Jenifer Deuchar was so pleased with the results, she wrote Boldijarre the President of the company to thank him.
Our regional representative Christel Salomon was overwhelmed that Boldijarre replied to her letter.

10 years with Eminence Organic Skin Care

10 Years with Eminence Organic Skin Care in my Spa

In the beginning of my Spa journey, after taking training in Oakland, California and Santa Fe, New Mexico I needed a skin care line to complement my body treatments which focused on European products from the Dead Sea, Moor in Austria and the sea weed off the shores of Britany.

I travelled to Spa Conferences in Banff, Vegas and Vancouver.

There are many products out there. Many products with interesting ingredients. I was searching for an organic product that delivered the results each person was looking for plus the company needed to provide training as well. I saw Boldijarre of Eminence Organic Skin Care arriving late with his few plastic vegetables and his green tent display in 2006. He had the biggest smile and an energetic vibrancy about him. I would meet him again in Vancouver 2007 at the Esthetics Spa International Conference. I once again visited many booths of skin care. I was convinced that Eminence was the product of choice. Conclusion:

  • Eminence is organic, handpicked grown mostly in Hungary
  • Eminence provides research and new products that deliver the results women and men are looking for
  • Eminence provides training – in house and many opportunities to learn more

Sunrise Wellness Spa was the second spa to bring in Eminence Organic Skin Care into Saskatchewan.

Geraldine is in the forefront of this amazing product that is made from Pure Fruits and Vegetables; cold pressed – so as not to disturb the effectiveness of the product. Made in a controlled environment in small batches to preserve the quality. No water is added to the product so all products contain 98% active ingredients.

Eminence sent two of their trainers to help launch Eminence into Unity in March of 2007. JoLynn Desjarlais (my first regional representative) brought two of her helpers and braved our Saskatchewan winter weather to be here to show Eminence to Unity residents. Geraldine brought in the full line of Eminence. Training was readily available for myself and my staff Lucy Koenig, Stacia Ramsay and Stefanie Rehauser.

Geraldine took all of her staff to Regional Training to have firsthand training from the Best of the Best.

Boldijarre – in Calgary 2007

Vancouver, ESI yearly Spa Show and conference to get the latest training Boldijarre had to offer about new products.

Tamara Hughes Regional trainer from Red Deer

Jude Herrera from Hawaii – Red Deer in 2008 and also in Regina in 2016

Brian Goodwin – 2010 in Red Deer

Christel Salamon from Churchbridge is our current regional representative and comes to train us and bring us up to date with all that Eminence has to offer in products and incentives.

We have reforested in Senegal, Africa

Through our Forest for the Future initiative we help over 284 families in Kongheul, Senegal grow sustainable Forest Garden Projects. Through our Forest for the Future initiative we help over 284 families in Kongheul, Senegal grow sustainable Forest Garden Projects.  Through these projects, participating farmers overcome issues that are common in their communities, grow trees to feed their families, create sustainable incomes and nurture the earth.

FORESTS FOR THE FUTURE: OVER 7 MILLION TREES PLANTED
Did you know that Éminence plants a tree for every single retail product sold? That’s given us the opportunity to plant over SEVEN million trees, providing the world with 1.6 billion pounds of oxygen each year – that’s enough oxygen for over one million people to breathe every year AND to offset the carbon emissions from over 40,000 cars every year! Now, this is a “tree-mendous” success in itself, but we’re doing a lot more than simply planting trees…

Our Forests for the Future Program, in partnership with the non-profit organization Trees for the Future, helps train farmers in developing countries around the world on how to build productive and sustainable Forest Gardens. Every tree we plant enables the development of these Forest Gardens in rural communities, empowering local people to restore their environment, grow their own food and build a sustainable income and future for themselves, their families and their communities.

We thank all our customers for contributing to this initiative which equals 128.5 acres

Éminence Kids Launches New Website & Mascot Name

SEPTEMBER 29, 2016 Written By:  Jessica Timberlake

Since 2013, the Éminence Kids Foundation has donated organic fruits, vegetables and juices to sick children around the world. Today, we’re proud to announce the next steps in our journey: a beautiful new website and a name for our teddy bear mascot.

Registered as a 501(c) (3) non-profit in the U.S., the Éminence Kids Foundation has served over 31,000 organic meals to seriously ill children to aid in their recovery and long-lasting

health. With the launch of our new website, we can now provide more information as well as accept online donations for the Foundation. We are excited to advance this important cause through this new destination online.

The Éminence Kids Foundation, founded by company owners Boldijarre and Attila Koronczay, shares the same beliefs in its mission to donate organic fruit, vegetables and juices to sick children around the world. Not only does the Foundation help children through their recovery, it also educates them about the importance of healthy, organic nutrition as an essential part of their treatment.

When we shared the vision of the Éminence Kids Foundation with Wellness Warrior, they saw the act of providing organic nutrition to sick children as a giant step towards accomplishing their mission. Damon from Wellness Warrior further explained his support:

“The simple act of giving when someone is in need is such a beautiful thing–and it is also how the world becomes a better place. I particularly appreciate how the Éminence Kids Foundation is supporting children.… the act of giving children nutritious juice during their recovery goes deeper than the importance of nutrition (though that is a vital part of healing). It becomes an emotional uplift–a way of showing up for people and letting them know that they are cared for, that they are loved and that things can and will get better. We need more of that in the world!”

Boldijarre is working very hard to become the number 1 skin care company in the world.

We at Sunrise Wellness Spa are very proud to bring Unity and district the finest of organic skin care that delivers results that the consumer is looking for. We have in house events with Christel who does the presentation and gives a wealth of knowledge. We have had a Pyjama Party, a Couples night as well as several other events. Watch for our advertising on these upcoming events offering door prizes and purchase deals. We thank Boldijarre for believing in rural communities and allowing his trainers to come to Unity to train us. Continue to share your winning smile where ever you go.

Attend our 10th Anniversary Celebration having Eminence Organic Skin Care in Unity!

Watch Facebook as we advertise daily and make time to stop in Thursday February 9th, Friday, February 10th and Saturday February 11th.

To continue in Boldijarre’ s spirit we are donating $1.00 from each product sold to  “UNITE for a Miracle, a local group organized to give back to Telemiracle so another  family will get the help Jeremy and Cherie Wagner received 9 years ago. A way to Share the love.

My Staff, Verlie Deuchar and Ellie Leidl are knowledgeable with the entire Eminence line in order to assist you. Spend time at the spa and enjoy the transformation.

Invocation ~ First Nation’s Aromatherapy

invocation

NATIVE ESSENCES

Written By Aigle Bleu

birdFor native peoples of all the continents, the truths and realities of the world, whether spiritual or philosophical, lie within nature itself. They have been inscribed directly there by the primordial intelligence that we, descending from the First Nations of North America, call Great Spirit. Although various names are used depending on the culture or religious tradition, reference is always to the same Creative Intelligence. Invocations goal is to convey a philosophy and spirituality of life in balance and harmony with nature

blue-eageI chose to convey this ancestral wisdom through all the activities of my life. I have therefore written books, composed music and created the Native Essences, a specific form of First Nations aromatherapy. Two Native Essences have been developed to date: Chiiyaam and Miwahu.

miwahThe idea behind the creation of Chiiyaam came to me as I was helping First Nations patients from the Far North being treated in an intensive care unit. I had been called in as a First Nations’ medicine-man, but it was impossible for me to practice the traditional purification rites, since they imply the use of smoke (cedar, sage and sweet grass).

I therefore turned to essential oils, adding sweet grass extract and corn spirits to the white sage and Canadian cedar. The first blend turned out interesting but its smell was unpleasant. That is when I decided to train with a renown French perfumer – Michel Roudnitska – and an essential oils specialist – Mikaël Zayat. I was then able to work on creating an essence that would have a pleasant fragrance and be effective at the same time. I undertook a spiritual search as well: my creation had to qualify as an offering if it was to be equivalent to traditional smudging. I therefore included a ritual aspect to the manufacturing process. I call this encoding since it adds specific intentions to the liquid, such as “purification”, “protection”, “healing” and “inspiration”. The result was very satisfying and my essence seemed even more effective than traditional smudging.

I realized that it could be useful to many people. So I decided to add a purifying plant essence to the formula—one for each human type: lavender for the European type, frankincense for the African type and sandalwood for the Asian type. “Invocation’s Liquid Smudge”, now called Chiiyaam, was born!

Many therapists use Chiiyaam. Chiiyaam purifies the environment and people much like traditional smudging. To purify yourself, simply spray Chiiyaam onto the palms of your hands and move them, palms open towards you, around your body. To purify a room, spray Chiiyaam towards its four corners and, for an object, either spray it directly or use your hands, moving them around the object. Therapists have appreciated the power of its immediate effectiveness and the fact that it clears fast, leaving a light and very pleasant scent.

The story of Miwahu began a few years ago when the Liquid Smudge, now Chiiyaam, was still the only Invocation essence. It all started with a request from the ladies working in our offices for a more feminine Native Essence. I imagined using sweet grass as the main ingredient, and worked for nearly two years to select the plants that would harmonize with this sacred herb. The resulting fragrance, Grâces, turned out to be too expensive to produce. But I have high hopes that it will be available someday, and am now working on a counterpart for men.

Meanwhile, I turned to French high perfumery for help in manufacturing a decently priced Energizing Native Essence. Perfume master Michel Roudnitska was instrumental in the process of creating Miwahu to which I gave a few pointers in its final stages.

The selection of plants used creates a synergy that develops in time like a symphony. The top note, featuring bergamot and mandarin, is light, conveys enthusiasm and stimulates creativity. The middle note, or heart note, with clary sage and vetiver, is floral and slightly heady. It attracts beneficial energies and encourages them to remain. The base note is deeper and persistent. It features sweet grass, oak moss, cistus and vanilla.

I perform an ancestral First Nations ritual on each batch of Invocation’s Native Essence—for both Chiiyaam and Miwahu. This amplifies the properties as it confers the following encoding and intentions TO Miwahu: attracting beneficial energies, favorable circumstances, clarity and harmony.

The use of Miwahu complements that of Chiiyaam. Ideally, it is best to use Chiiyaam first, to appease, soothe and purify. It is immediately effective and soon clears. After a fifteen-minute wait, Miwahu can be used to foster dynamism, enthusiasm and creativity. It will come into effect gradually and its fragrance develops throughout the day when it is applied to clothes or directly on the skin.

Five other fragrances are now available; forming a series called The Five Elements. 5-elements

Tea

Tea

Asiatica’s selection of loose leaf and blooming tea are of the highest caliber in quality, taste and fragrance.

Determination of appropriate water temperature so you will benefit from tea

There are many ways to determine when your water is hot enough for steeping your tea without the use of a thermometer.

  1. “Sheng Pien” meaning “sound distinguishing”. Using your ear you can distinguish three clear levels of heat.
At the first level, the water makes a low humming sound and is called medium-done, yin-yang, or baby water. Such water is never used for making tea and in fact is never used for anything in cooking, as yin-yang water is said to be unhealthy.
At the second level the water starts to pop noisily in your kettle or container. This is called mature water and is generally the right level for making tea.
At the third level, the water bubbles ferociously. This is called old man water or white hair water and is not used for making tea.

    2. ‘Chi Pien”, meaning “air distinguishing”. This method involves watching the steam as the water heats up.
At the first level, the steam rises in small streams, very slowly, gradually, and gently. This is baby water, which is unusable.
At the second level the steam rises at a moderate volume. This is about the right level for most teas.
At the third level the steam ascends at a high volume, like chunks of cloud. This indicates old man water and is no longer suitable to make tea.

    3. “Hsing Pien” meaning “form distinguishing”. This method involves looking at the bubbles in the water as it is being heated.
At the first level a number of small bubbles come up through the water from the bottom of the kettle of container. Because the bubbles are roughly the size of a crab’s eye, this is called crab-eye water.
At the second level the small bubbles begin to disappear, to be replaced by continuous streams of larger bubbles. This water is called fish-eye water and is approximately the right temperature for most teas.
At the third level the water is bubbling viciously and indicates old man water.

General brewing instructions

1) Put 1-2 teaspoon(s) of tea into your teapot. This is a general guideline as the amount of tea used can vary according to personal taste.
2) Rinse your tea by pouring approximately 125mL of hot water into the teapot, then pouring it out right after.
3) Pour in 500 ml of hot water per teaspoon of tea, adjusting the water to the suitable temperature with the methods detailed in ‘Determination of appropriate water temperature’, or by using a thermometer to reach the correct temperature for whichever tea type you are brewing.
4) Let tea steep for the amount of time corresponding to the type of tea. It is important to note that the longer you allow the tea to steep, the stronger the flavour becomes, and that the lengths of infusion and the water temperatures for all the tea types are approximate. You may always shorten, lengthen, decrease or increase all of the given information to suit your personal taste.

5) Strain tea (if desired), let cool (optionally) and enjoy!
White Tea
Length of infusion: 2-3 minutes      Water temperature: 80-85º C / 176-185º F

This unique tea came into popularity during the Song Dynasty in China, from 960-1279. It was so very valued and cherished that, in fact, they were suitable as offerings and gifts to the emperor.
At Asiatica, our most popular white teas are the silver needle, white peony tea and shou mei teas. In general, white tea is seen to have great health benefits as it is light in flavour yet heavily imbued with antioxidants.

Green Tea
Length of infusion: 1-3 minutes      Water temperature: 80-85º C / 176-185º F

The green tea has been a widely celebrated product since more than 4000 years ago. Legend goes that an emperor was drinking a cup of hot water when tea leaves fell into the cup, and thus tea was born.

Some of the most favoured teas at Asiatica are the jasmine dragon pearls, dragonwell, sencha and the royal bi luo chun. The most notable health benefits of green tea are the qualities that allow the prevention of cancer and heart disease, prevention of diabetes and stroke, aiding in digestion and even the strengthening of the immune system.

Oolong Tea
Length of infusion: 4-7 minutes      Water temperature: 90-100º C / 194-212º F

Also known as the black dragon tea, oolong tea dates back more than 500 years, before the 16th Ming dynasty. The exact origins of this specialty tea are unknown, but there have been three main theories as to these particulars. The oolong teas of Asiatica come from the high mountains of Taiwan.

Other than the mysterious airs regarding the ancestry of oolong tea, we are presently capable of enjoying this tea’s exclusive flavours with the categories offered by Asiatica, which include the ginseng oolong, milky oolong, oolong premium, oriental beauty, and the ti kuan yin. All these types of teas share the traits of increasing your metabolism which in turn helps with weight loss, the diminishment of concentrations of fat as well as facilitating digestion. Additionally, our ginseng oolong tea is an excellent choice for starting your mornings, with its energizing flavour and effects.

Black & Red Tea
Length of infusion: 4-6 minutes      Water temperature: 100º C / 212º F

This specific kind of tea came to be when the ancient Chinese found that as the tea leaves went through a fermentation process, the colour would darken and the potency would increase significantly. This type of tea would henceforth be known as black tea, for its darker hues. However, this sort of tea is also known as red tea, after the colouring of the liquid produced after the tea leaves are left to steep in hot water.

An assortment of red/black tea is kept in the stocks of Asiatica, with the most renowned being the keemun, lychee red tea, organic Earl grey, Taiwanese black tea and pu-erh. As with many other kinds of tea, black tea is loaded with antioxidants that can assist in the reduction of inflammation. Black tea also holds the cardiovascular benefits but a quality unique to the red and black tea is the reduction of the risk of coronary heart disease by fifty percent, as shown in a study of over 3000 adults in Saudi Arabia. In addition, unlike the other black teas, the pu-erh has its own unique benefit in that it naturally lowers cholesterol. Animal research suggests that pu-erh tea might lower certain blood fats called triglycerides as well as total and “bad” low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol

Herbal & Floral Tea
Length of infusion: 4-7 minutes      Water temperature: 100º C / 212º F
The dried, edible parts of all floral plants, including the stems, flowering buds, leaves and petals, are what make up the herbal and floral teas that we can taste from the collection from Asiatica. The practice of drinking herbal and floral tea dates back many centuries and has been explored by a large expanse of Asian and Western cultures, in which each culture has thoroughly enjoyed this art.

Rosebuds, camomile, lavender, chrysanthemum, osmanthus, organic chai mix: all of these herbal and floral teas that are sold at Asiatica have properties entirely specific to themselves. For example, the camomile tea’s most well-known traits are the ones that calm and bring sleep, comfort and a drowsy state. The rosebuds tea are known for increasing your blood circulation which can bring on a more youthful appearance, lavender relieves indigestion, chrysanthemum can help with anti-fever effects, osmanthus can improve skin and chai mix has anti-inflammatory characteristics. However, all of these teas share one property: they are all naturally healthy and delicious.
Yerba Mate Tea
Length of infusion: 2-4 minutes      Water temperature: 73-79º C / 165-175º F

The yerba maté tea is believed to have arisen from South America, with the Guarani people being its first harvesters and drinkers. The tree in which the leaves came from and the tea leaves themselves were considered gifts from the gods, and the drink was highly praised and cherished among the people.

Asiatica offers the organic yerba maté active, which actually contains extracts of vitamin C. As with the other categories of tea, the yerba maté tea reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases, inflammation and risk of diseases. Another benefit, exclusive to this tea, is that the many amounts of powerful antioxidants in it are able to strengthen the natural defences of an organism, thus allowing safety from cellular destruction and even prevention of cancer.

Rooibos Tea
Length of infusion: 5-10 minutes    Water temperature: 100º C / 212º F

Rooibos tea originated more than 300 years ago, from the regions of Cederberg, South Africa. It is said that it was either the inhabitants of the mountainous area or the explorers and travellers that found the Rooibos leaves were suitable for the brewing of the tea. Henceforth, the Rooibos tea was born.

The massala chai and “after 8” are the organic rooibos teas that we keep in our store. Of the many health benefits stored in the drink that is steeped rooibos leaves in water, the main ones shared with the other types of tea are the positive antioxidants, cardiovascular benefits and lowering of blood pressure. However, the characteristics unique to this tea are the prevention of liver disease, of respiratory problems and of skin problems such as those who suffer from eczema.

Honeybush Tea

The first usage documented in 1705 and the first description published in 1808, the honeybush plant began its course as a tea leaf about 200 years ago in the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa. Bearing many similarities to the rooibos tea, the striking traits unique to the honeybush plant are its fragrance, which smells of honey, and its taste, which is sweeter than the rooibos tea, though equally as enjoyable.

For Energy, Detox, Weightloss and Concentration

Matcha powdered green tea is a mood enhancing antioxidant powerhouse. A natural weightloss aid, PH Balancer and detox agent. A sugar-free coffee alternative without the jitters. Matcha is a premium green tea powder from Japan used for drinking as tea or as an ingredient in recipes. It is the heart of the Japanese way of tea and has been celebrated in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony for hundreds of years. Matcha contains L-theanine, an amino acid known to relax the mind. For this reason, matcha is also known as a mood enhancer. Buddhist monks drank matcha to assist in meditation, as matcha’s amino acids, combined with caffeine, offer a sustained calm alertness over time. Amino acids are also what gives matcha is distinctive taste. They contribute to what is known as the fifth taste, or umami, characterized by a rich creamy mouth feel. Matcha is renowned for numerous health benefits. It is rich in nutrients, antioxidants, fiber and chlorophyll. The health benefits of matcha exceed those of other green teas because matcha drinkers ingest the whole leaf, not just the brewed water. One glass of matcha is the equivalent of 10 glasses of green tea in terms of nutritional value and antioxidant content.

Chlorophyll and amino acids give matcha its unique rich taste, an initial vegetal, astringent taste, followed by a lingering sweetness. Matcha made in the traditional Japanese style, whisked with water, is a full-bodied green tea. The intensity of the experience compares to one’s first taste of dark chocolate or red wine. When added as an ingredient, the taste of matcha becomes subtler. It adds the flavor and color of green tea to your creation, be it a smoothie, latte, savory sauce or pastry.

Continuing Education/Upgrading

Continuing Education/Upgrading

Continuing education is an integral part of any vocation today.

Registered Massage Therapists have mandatory credits to get every 3 years. However; I have had a passion for learning and finding our more about the mystery of the human body all my life.

This spring I took a cadaver class where we were studying the brain. It was fascinating and I clearly understand when it is said we only use 10% of our brain. What a “Motherboard” the human brain is.

I took 3 levels of craniosacral therapy 25 years ago from Upledger Institute. They have updated their curriculum in 2010. Cranial Sacral Therapy helps with headaches, motor vehicle accidents, concussions and trauma. Plus; it does address deep pain or tightness in the muscular system and supplies mental clarity.

Sometimes clients will experience emotional releases when having cranial or deep tissue massage. While in class we will be learning and exploring tissue memory and whole body diagnosis.

I am very committed to explore this field and upgrade to the present day understanding. There is a course in Edmonton which I will be attending September 15-18.

I will take one day of sport massage with James Waslaski on September 19. I took some classes from him 20 years ago. It will be exciting to see what he has added to his repertoire. Sport massage is a love of mine. I am a Certified Sports Massage Therapist with http://www.csmta.ca/

Although I am not free to travel to events as I once did I want to keep on the cutting edge of Sport Massage. Sport Massage will keep you in the game longer and with less injuries.

I am a committed lifelong learner so you may all benefit.
