Bride to Be

Bride to Be

Over the years I have heard new brides share how little they remember of their wedding day.

Preparation is so intense and they want everything to be perfect. However; the bride forgets about herself….. To look after herself…. Eat Healthy. Get enough sleep. And book a few massage sessions to prepare starting 2-3 months prior to the wedding and the week of the wedding.

There are several ways the bride can do this:

These are some ideas that the bride to be has done in Sunrise Wellness Spa.

  1. 3 Generation Spa Day with the Bride to Be that included – mud wraps, full body massage and a facial. Each lady lived in different province so they spent this time reconnecting before the wedding.

2. A mature Bride to Be had her long-time friend attendees all meet at the spa to have a massage and facial. Three of her friends never knew one another so it was a time to meet and connect before rehearsal. They loved this idea and even had lunch in the Solarium.

3. Another Bride to Be organized her decorating committee at the hall and while they were decorating she came for a full body massage. This was her time to de-stress and enjoy her day as the queen.

  1. Yet another Bride to Be had to gift of a spa experience from her bridesmaids. They arranged for the Bride to Be to have a facial and a full body massage while her attendees had pedicures and facials. They enjoyed a nice lunch in the Solarium together.

Whatever helps you de-stress and relax you have to take time for it.

Your wedding is an important day in your life. Take the time to remember it.

Beard Care: Shaving Tips & Tricks

Written By: Christie Pike

Men have skin care needs too, so in honor of the bearded (and clean shaven) men out there, we’re sharing a few of our quick and easy tips on how to get that perfect shave.

FOR THE CLEAN SHAVEN MAN

The Shave Prep:

De-flake with an exfoliating facial scrub. It will help you get a closer shave while reducing ingrown hairs. The key to a good shave is preventing those inflamed, post-shave bumps. One thing that men can do to avoid ingrown hairs and raised bumps is proper exfoliation. “De-flake with an exfoliating facial scrub. It will help you get a closer shave while reducing ingrown hairs,” suggests Men’s Health Magazine.

Prior to shaving, we suggest our Red Currant Exfoliating Cleanser (Named Best Facial Exfoliator for Men by Harper’s Bazaar). This cleanser and exfoliant combo will help wash and buff away dead skin and unclog pores.

The Shave:

Shaving creams don’t necessarily make a good shave. Some shaving creams are filled with unnecessary perfumes and foaming agents which can irritate the skin. Instead, we suggest opting for a cream-based cleanser like our Lemon Cleanser and our Calm Skin Chamomile Cleanser which are both free of parabens, sodium lauryl sulfates, synthetic dyes and petrochemicals. These cleansers have a pleasant herbal scent and contain antioxidant-rich ingredients that help hydrate and nourish the skin while softening the pre-shave stubble.

The After-Shave:

Couperose-C Serum contains peppermint which provides a soothing and cooling sensation to freshly shaved skin while our Calendula Oil is loaded with alpha and beta carotenoids that enhance your skin’s natural healing systems.

Serums are light-weight in consistency but high in concentrated nutrients so they are the perfect option to help calm, hydrate and protect the look of skin post-shave. Our Calendula Oil and Couperose-C Serum are a couple of great options. Couperose-C Serum contains peppermint which provides a soothing and cooling sensation to freshly shaved skin while our Calendula Oil is loaded with alpha and beta carotenoids that enhance your skin’s natural healing systems.

For men that are prone to ingrown hairs – our Facial Recovery Oil is another great after-shave treatment as it contains the anti-bacterial qualities of tea tree.

FOR THE BEARDED MAN:

When it comes to a dapper looking beard, any type of conditioning care would be beneficial for softening and smoothing coarse facial hair as well as the skin underneath. Beards are back, and we know a good beard when we see one. Keeping a beard sleek and well-groomed can sometimes involve just as much maintenance as shaving every day. When it comes to a dapper looking beard, any type of conditioning care would be beneficial for softening and smoothing coarse facial hair as well as the skin underneath.

We suggest adding a few drops of our Facial Recovery Oil in the palm and then gently smoothing over the beard for a hydrated and shiny finish.

Another one of our product picks is our Apricot Body Oil. A key ingredient in this hydrating solution is jojoba oil which mimics the activity of your body’s natural oils and contains almost all of the vitamins and minerals essential for healthy skin and hair (Wellness Today).  And with the honeyed scent of apricot, this is a great option for men who aren’t afraid to show off their “sweeter” side.

THE SPF FACTOR

Beard or no beard, SPF protection is a must every day, especially after a shave when exfoliated skin tends to be more sensitive to the sun’s harmful rays. Beard or no beard, SPF protection is a must every day, especially after a shave when exfoliated skin tends to be more sensitive to the sun’s harmful rays. If you’re looking for an SPF moisturizer with a fresh, masculine-friendly scent, we suggest our Tomato Day Cream – SPF 16 or for a higher protection factor, our Bright Skin Moisturizer with SPF 30.
